This is giving me flashbacks to stories about Facebook moderators: https://www.bbc.com/news/technology-57088382

TikTok content moderators in Turkey are speaking out about traumatic working conditions, including exposure to graphic content

This is one of the reasons I wish all social media apps had an option to hide media by default. It would also have the benefit to limit data consumption. I understand that might be hard for TikTok, but maybe it can have user settings that empower the user to limit autoplaying only items from friends or friends of friends. This will probably expose fewer posts overall to the mods as well. User friendly settings like this probably hurt TikTok's bottom line. On the other hand, maybe apps that are hostile to both the user and the worker aren't necessary.
